CameraAlert

iPhone Privacy Policy

Effective September 11, 2026. This policy applies to the native CameraAlert iPhone app. Support: infocontractorai@gmail.com.

Location during a drive

CameraAlert processes precise location in memory to calculate distance and direction to documented cameras. Location updates start only when you start Drive Mode and can continue while another app is open or the screen is locked. iPhone controls permission and displays its background location indicator. Stop Drive ends monitoring. CameraAlert does not save or upload GPS tracks, destination history or routes.

Camera records and settings

The app includes a documented OpenStreetMap snapshot. Camera packages you import replace the local dataset and are excluded from backup. Restore the included snapshot in Settings or uninstall the app to remove app-held data. Preferences are saved on the phone and may be handled by your system backup settings. CameraAlert has no user accounts, advertising, analytics, subscription, automatic report upload or tracking SDK.

Optional maps and external apps

Street maps are off until you enable them. They use Apple MapKit; Apple receives viewed-area requests and ordinary connection information under its own policies. Google Maps opens separately when selected, or after the first reliable GPS fix if automatic opening is enabled. CameraAlert does not supply your coordinates or destination in that link and cannot read the resulting route. Information entered directly in Google Maps is handled by Google. Source links and email use their respective external apps.

Speech and device services

Warnings use the iPhone speech service and available English voices. Test voice playback offline before relying on it. Apple controls the location, audio, operating-system and map services under its own settings and policies. CameraAlert does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts or messages.

Documented camera information

Camera locations come from OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL. They may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect and are not independently verified. The app does not electronically detect cameras or access camera video. Camera-facing direction does not establish traffic direction. OpenStreetMap attribution and license.
